In July 2018 Ian was commissioned by VodafoneUK and The Telegraph to travel through the remote landscapes of western Mongolia as part of photographic project to capture traditional Mongolian culture.

Even in a modern Mongolia where development is seeping into its capital, Ulaanbaatar, out in the plains of the Steppe and the fertile alpine regions, the horse still plays a vital role. It's here, in a landscape so undeniably vast, that the equine population still outnumbers that of the human. Not only does this relationship, between man and horse, date back over 1000 years, it still thrives under the pressure of modernisation. Mongolia truly is a nation of people and their horses.
